Grace and Marilyn Host Baby Blanket Binge

Grace Whitis and Marilyn Shine hosted our January quilt group meeting at Grace's home.  We worked on receiving blankets to be donated to Bundle of Joy.  With all the cold weather, there is certainly a need for some warm flannel blankets for babies in need!

We began with a delicious breakfast...

followed by some discussion of our next project:  jackets.

Sue showed off some of her jackets and the detailed sewing on them.

Sue and Sara shared some patterns that could be used.

And, of course, we had some show and share.  Carole shared a project we have seen her work on for quite some time.  Her framed "Jingle Bells" is truly a work of art!  Several people volunteered to hang it in their homes, if she gets tired of it, but I think Carole will be enjoying this one for a long time.

She also brought a purchased Santa pillow that may become a future project for us.

Margaret shared some baby caps she has been crocheting using Marilyn's pattern.

Then it was time to get to work on the baby receiving blankets.

Carole serged for the first time!  She said she would be pulling out that serger that someone gave her now that she is experienced...

Then it was time for a delicious lunch of soup and sandwiches.  Thanks so much to Grace and Marilyn!

We had a very productive and fun day.  We completed 23 baby blankets!  Bundle of Joy will put them to good use!

December Christmas Dinner at Melva's House

As is our tradition, we had our annual Christmas party/luncheon at Melva's house in December.  As usual, everything was decorated beautifully for Christmas, and she had prepared a feast for us.  Everyone has a wonderful time participating in our Christmas tree ornament exchange, and several ornaments are exchanged several times.

We started with our show and tell

which consisted of some beautiful quilts,

and a calendar shared by Marilyn.

Then came the ornament exchange.

What can it be???

Beautiful!  Will she keep it??

Others are waiting...

Some get to open multiple gifts...because theirs are stolen.

What is it?

An angel!

Everyone was so glad to see Ouida!  She looked great!

Joycelyn chose a keeper!

Karen looks festive!

Another surprise?

I think she likes it!

A beautiful Santa!

Time for lunch!

As usual, the table is gorgeous!

And everyone is ready to eat.

The feast is delicious.

And the dessert is beautiful, too!

Our compliments to the hostess, and our appreciation for the delicious meal in her beautiful home.

Of course, it would not be Christmas without our Christmas socks!
